Living in Miami I’m constantly searching for ways to keep my hair tamed or my skin evenly toned. The humidity levels and extreme heat are no help for sure. Here are 10 easy steps I’ve either taught myself or learned by simply browsing the web with search engine: Beauty.
1. Freeze It… Your Eyeliner That Is
Does your eyeliner crumble when you put it on? Simply place it in the freezer 15 minutes prior to using it. It’ll glide on easily.
2. Shave With Conditioner
For as long as I can remember I’ve always used conditioner while shaving rather than shaving cream. That is, before I was old enough to notice the Venus commercials and be completely drawn into consumer tactics! I find that conditioner soften the hairs and make them easier to shave, all while leaving your skin silky and moist just as it does when used conventionally. I eventually went back to this process after realizing I’d end up wearing more band-aids when using shaving cream!
3. Rinse Your Hair With Beer My Dear; or Vinegar Your Choice
Using either of these items restore moisture and shine. Just like when my mom wipes down her granite counter tops with vinegar every Saturday. Be sure to use either or, but not both! And rinse with cold water.
4. Ice Ice Baby
Use ice cubes to keep fat, acne, and wrinkles away. Rubbing an ice cube on your face until it melts, keeps fat cell, acne, and wrinkles in check. You should do this every night.
5. Pepto in Ya Face
Apparently pepto bismol isn’t just for comforting the stomach pains. Dermatologist found it contains bismuth subsalicylate, which is very common in facial creams. Spread two teaspoons on face, let it dry for 15-30 mins, rinse with warm water, and pat dry your face. I’m definitely trying this one tonight.
6. Moisturize Your Make up Away
Use body lotion to rid of last night’s party face. It’s especially helpful when removing mascara. I’ve grown accustom to using Albolene. I use it every night to simply wash away excess make up or dirt from the day. It substitutes as a great moisturizer as well. Simply apply it over your face and neck and tissue away. No water needed.
7. It’s Either On or Off Ladies
Avoid chipped nails! I’m definitely guilty for this from time to time, “apparently so is LiLo” (pic below). Whether you believe it or not everyone notices! If it makes it easier, purchase a small polish remover and keep it in your purse for keepsake.
8. Pantyhose or Tights
Wanna wear a shirt? No time to shave? Worry not! Get some hose, Pantyhose! They hide those tiny little stubs of unwanted hair. I have a favorite pair from Aldo that I got on sale for $7.98. They’re sheer black with red hearts that make a vertical line up the back of my leg! Super cute and easy fix for unshaved legs!
9. Would You Like Mayo on That?
It sounds gross but trust me! Mayo in your hair works.Last week I got a Dominican blow out and when I went to wash my hair I noticed it didn’t go back to its original texture. It felt frail and tough. I decided to do a deep conditioner. I used Olive Oil (cooking oil) and my mom suggested I added mayonnaise as well. I’ve used the oil as suggested by my hair dresser but adding the mayo this time was amazing. My hair regained its texture after rinsing it out and it was shining and soft. My curls were loose and full. Mayo may not be good for your health but it’s great for healthy hair!
10. Couture Contouring
Lastly, for all my ladies that love attempting to do this, but fall short on a few steps. Let’s make sure we get it right. I’m no expert by far. But I’ve watched enough YouTube tutorials and can tell a difference. So here ya go: When trying to accomplish that chiseled face (as many celebs, i.e. Kerry Washington, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian) you must add dimension. Your face has 3! Apply highlight to the areas that normally attract light while making certain to create enough shadow to emphasize the jaw line and cheekbones. And that’s just the intro!
Check out make up tutorials on YouTube. One I find very informative and appealing is Beauty by Carli Bybel. I’ve watched a handful of her tutorials and I’m pretty much hooked. P.S grab a Concealer Quad first! Better yet hit up your nearest Sephora or Mac store for all your cosmo needs.
I hope these quick tricks become of use for all my readers. For more tips on beauty and health check out websites like YouBeauty.com, Totalbeauty.com, and of course Elle Magazine’s elle.com/beauty/.
